About the Ambassadors
The College Ambassador program began in 1988 as a leadership opportunity for selected students to represent and promote the programs and activities of the College of Agriculture and Home Economics. Ambassadors of the College of Agriculture and Home Economics are expected to carry out assigned responsibilities in promoting the College and assisting in student recruitment. Specific responsibilities consistent with educational training, individual interests, competencies, and the needs of the College are assigned to the ambassadors.
Major responsibilities include: student recruitment activities such as phone calls, campus and College tours, high schools and special events promotion, and Spring Visitors Day; public speaking to university and community groups, classes and special events, public relations and image through a willingness to represent departments and the College at various receptions, activities and functions; and in general being a spokesperson for the students, the departments, the College and the university.
Being a College Ambassador is a privilege that requires enthusiasm, commitment, knowledge and a belief in the value and work of the College. Ambassadors must be competent and comfortable in a variety of settings, demonstrate diverse presentation skills, and exhibit an interest and understanding of people. Selection as a CAHE ambassador requires participation in regularly scheduled meetings outside of class time, and some evening and weekend work.
Ambassadors selected will work closely with and be responsible to the College of Agriculture and Home Economics Program Coordinator and/or the Ambassador Advisors and the College.
