CHRISTMAS TREE CARE AND MAINTENANCE

These helpful tips were taken from a list provided by Green Thumb.

  • When you take your tree home, put it on a sunny porch so it can gradually warm up for a few days
  • Look for the coolest place in the house to place your tree
  • Look and see if heater units will hit the tree, if so turn them off
  • Do not set tree by a heat source (fireplace, wall heater, etc.)
  • Place a tray under tree to catch excess water
  • Water your tree daily
  • Put one or two trays of ice cubes on top of the root ball daily
  • Keep your tree indoors only as long as absolutely necessary
  • Use small lights that give off very little heat on your tree
  • When you are ready to take your tree outside, put it on a porch where it can gradually cool down for a few days
  • Plant your tree with compost & root stimulator. Water once a week until spring.
