Extension and Research Support Council

Extension and Research Support Council has members from every county in New Mexico. Members are selected from their county advisory committees. The purpose of the Council is to educate the members about extension and research programming at New Mexico State University's College of Agriculture and Home Economics, and to maintain a system to keep public officials informed of program and budget needs.

A general meeting is held one a year. Special or district meetings may be held when needed. Council members are asked to give advise on the direction and subject matter for future programs. They are encouraged to be spokespersons to policymakers at local, state, and national levels for extension and research programs. Members may be asked to write, call, or testify in support of extension and research programs and budgets. At annual meetings, members discuss legislative initiatives, state and national extension programs, and activities in research and teaching at New Mexico State University's College of Agriculture and Home Economics. Knowledge shared at annual meetings is brought back to county advisory committees, and Council members serve as resource individuals for county program planning.
