LAS CRUCES -- Connie Moyers began work July 10 for New Mexico State University as the Cooperative Extension Service home economist in Roosevelt County.

Moyers will work with 4-H youth on home economics projects. She also will provide guidance for adult leaders and Family and Community Education volunteers.

Moyers, a Clovis native, is a former member of 4-H and has served as a 4-H volunteer leader. She comes to NMSU from Southwestern Public Service Company (SPS) in Clovis where she was a corporate home economist and marketing representative for 22 years.

"I've been involved with Extension for quite a while through my job at SPS," she said. "SPS does a lot of work with the annual 4-H electric camp."

At SPS, Moyers also published the Festive Foods Cookbook every year and helped organize electric safety programs.

She earned her bachelor's degree in home economics education from NMSU and her master's in education from Eastern New Mexico University. She has been recognized as the Eastern New Mexico Business Home Economist of the Year, and she's received a Gold Addy Award from the Amarillo Advertising Club for the Festive Foods Cookbook.

She is a member of the Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, and she's the organization leader for Curry County 4-H Club.
